Rutherford Wildwood
|
Known as: The Adventurer
Rutherford, an only child, was born to busy professional parents. He developed an adventurous spirit early in life, escaping from his Nanny and tutors to explore the forests and fields that surrounded his home. It came as no surprise that, at college, he studied geography and geology where he enjoyed many summer vacations on field trips throughout the American continent. He found his early teaching career to be tedious and boring and was soon using his vacation time travelling to little known countries exploring rivers and canyons, mountains and forests making exciting discoveries and, more than once, having to use his ingenuity to escape from precarious situations. This soon became a full time occupation using the inheritance his parents left him. Realising he needed help on his explorations Rutherford engaged a tour guide to help in researching and planning his trips. He also employed his long term friend as a cook and camp coordinator. Along with ‘the Boss’, his faithful companion, Sammy, the trio would escape the bustle of modern living for the peacefulness and surprise encounters on the adventures to explore as yet, undiscovered treasures.

Lilly Parkhurst
|
Known as: The Tour Guide
Growing up with three brothers meant Lily was a champion tree climber, swimmer and hiker. However, as an adult she found herself working in a Park Visitors centre helping others to live out their adventures by guiding them to trails that would challenge them, camp sites to experience the wilder side of life and areas that would astound their senses. Wishing for more adventure in her own life, Lily surprised herself by not only answering a ‘situations vacant’ advert but saying ‘yes’ when offered the position. She would be travelling with esteemed explorer Rutherford Wildwood, researching and planning his travel and expeditions in strange and exotic places. Whilst travelling she hoped she could fulfil her ambition of taking photographs of places no one else had seen.

Gus Griddle
|
Known as: Cookie (The Camp Cook)
Known to his friends as Cookie, Gus rarely talks of his past, so little is known of him other than he has had a lot of experience in the Army. He is widely travelled and amazes people with his ability to speak several languages, not fluently but enough to communicate with locals, especially when it comes to his first love – food and the creating of interesting dishes. He can be a little sharp if interrupted when developing a new recipe but he can also rustle up a variety of supplies for the campsite as if by magic. His knowledge and experience balances Rutherford’s impetuous nature and keeps them all safe on their adventures.

Finnegan Evergreen
|
Known as: Fin (The Apprentice)
Sadly, Finn as he prefers to be known, found himself an orphan in his early years. His parents were killed in a car accident on a steep mountain pass and, as his next of kin could not be found immediately, he was placed in a group home and then a foster home. It took a few years, but eventually the social worker was able to track down his mothers’ brother – Gus. After a few meetings Gus agreed to take guardianship of Finn – as long as Finn was happy to travel with him. Finn often talks of the excitement he felt when leaving his foster family to go on his first forest adventure with his uncle. He admitted to being a little fearful too, as it was all new to him. He had never spent time in a tent let alone a forest. He soon settled into the new life, learning new and challenging experiences, helped by his new best friend, The Boss.

Sammy
|
Known as: The Boss
This feisty, cute and mischievous corgi can twist the most hard hearted person around his paw within a few minutes of meeting. He hadn’t been with Rutherford for more than a couple of years, but was already a seasoned explorer, when Finn met him. Whilst being a courageous little fellow, he is known for following his nose and getting into tricky situations which, then, needs a human to get him out of it. On occasions he has led the team to make discoveries they might otherwise have missed. He has the uncanny knack of knowing when food is ready and letting everyone know, loudly, when it is time to eat – hence being known as “The Boss”.
